Diesbach

I stayed at Diesbach, GL with a friend for two days, shooting a small movie project of him for school. while he was setting up the lights and all, i went for a short sketch walk. later, before dinner, and the next morning, i used the free time to draw the view from the house.

view from Diesbach over to Betschwanden. It was midday, and the sun was so hot and burning, i had to take some breaks in the shadow. I tried out a  bigger brush for the landscape, but i'm not quiet happy with the result...29.7x21cm (A4)
small and quick sketch of the waterfall nearby. I did another with watercolors only, but not happy with that. I could have spent hours in the cooling shadow of the mountain trying to capture the amazing view and athmosphere, lights, shadows and colors. Have to go back! 14.8x21cm^ (A5)

in the evening, the view from the house just acros the meadow. this was the old administration building of the factory just across the railway (see below). now its only used by the local band. in the background i think you can see the rest of Diesbach, but i'm not sure, it could be that it's already the next village. 21x14.8 cm (A5)

this is the old factory behind the railway. it was still used until somewhen around 2000, and it produced textiles, like almost every other factory in Glarus. the textiles are really famous, but they aren't produced anymore - it costs too much. the electricity they would get from the canal, which goes through the whole valley providing energy and thus providing an income for the valley, mainly in the 19th century. 21x14.8 (A5)

suddenly summer

for the past two weeks, the weather was rainy and cold and i couldn't sketch - did some linocuts instead - but now it's suddenly summer and i'm sketching again, despite the hay fever.

Ottenweg 33 is right under the Kreuzplatz, at the start of a nice neighborhood with lots of little houses. I would love to live there!

17/20.5.14 black marker 0.4 and Schmincke Watercolors

for the linocuts look here: https://www.facebook.com/entityillustrations

i waited with the car, until i couldn't avoid it anymore, i tought it disturbed the old house. But then again, one could argue, that the old house gets squeezed between the antenna and the car, that it is a contraposition, etc...

some random guy

a short story, i almost forgot to post:
I was sketching this random, shaby entry to a house in the Seefeld, Zürich, when a women came out, looked in her postbox, then took her smartphone out and made a picture of me. Then went away...i imagined the story she will tell her friends: "some strange guy sitting in front of my dirty, shaby entry and was sketching it?!?"

villas

there are a few (actually quite a lot) old villas in Zurich, with beautiful gardens, parcs or garden houses...

first one is the Villa Wesendonck, now a museum, and the second is a gardenhouse in the Rechberg-garden, in the middle of the city

first one is 21x15 cm, second is 14x9 cm
as usual, black fineliner and Schmincke Watercolors

I started this one ca. two weeks ago, but only a few strokes. Since then it was rainig...
a lovely little gardenhouse. The Rechberggarten is a wonderful parc close to the university, so it's perfect to make a break.

I specially had to buy the color for the tree!! A lot of people were walking by and asked me why i was doing this, if im doing this for school. They all liked it when i said, just for fun. Ca. 21x15 cm

A wonderful little house in a quiet street. Ca. 9.5 x 14 cm
